Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

Who we are
This website, stlawrence.cc, belongs to St. Lawrence Church, a Catholic parish of the Diocese of Harrisburg entrusted to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. We respect your privacy and collect as little as we can. If you have a question about this policy, please contact us:

What we collect and why
- What you choose to send us. If you fill in a form on our site, such as enrolling souls for the Novena of Masses, we receive your name, your email address, and what you write. We use it only for that purpose. Names of the deceased submitted for the Novena are printed and placed beside the High Altar and remembered at Mass. We delete these entries 30 days after the Novena ends.
- Emails and calls. If you email, call or text us, we use your message only to answer you and to serve you pastorally.
- Basic visit information. Like most websites, our server and our analytics tool record technical details such as your browser type, the pages you view, and your approximate location.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Cookies and analytics
Our site uses a small session cookie that lets the website work properly. It's deleted when you close your browser. We also use Google Analytics to see, in general terms, how many people visit and which pages help them. Google Analytics sets its own cookies, and Google handles that data under its own privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
Our pages also load fonts from Google, and the home page plays a background video from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, so Google may receive your IP address.
Services run by others
Some parish services take place on other organizations' websites, each with its own privacy policy:
- Online giving: ParishSoft (and, for older recurring gifts, Vanco). We never see or store your card or bank numbers.
- Parish registration: ParishSoft Family Suite, used by the Diocese of Harrisburg.
- Email announcements: ActiveCampaign, which also uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam sign-ups.
- Parish email groups: Groups.io.
- Bookstore: bookstore.stlawrence.cc, run on Ecwid with its own secure checkout.
- Youth protection clearances: the Diocese of Harrisburg.
When you follow a link to another website, including YouTube, Apple Music or Amazon, that site's privacy policy applies, not ours.
Affiliate links
Our music notes and other pages sometimes link to recordings, books and other items, and in the future some of those links may earn the parish a small commission.
- Many of these links go through Geniuslink (geni.us), a service that sends you to the right store for your country. Geniuslink says it doesn't use cookies to redirect you and doesn't store your IP address. It counts clicks by country, device and referring page. On some links, such as Apple Music, Geniuslink adds its own affiliate code, which earns Geniuslink, not the parish, a commission.
Using these links never costs you anything extra, and we only link to things we think will genuinely help you.
Email lists
If you sign up for parish announcements, we use your name and email only to send parish news. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, or you can ask the office to remove you. Membership in the parish email groups is approved by the parish office, and you may leave at any time.
Children
This site is meant for adults and families. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents handle sign-ups for their children's activities. If you think a child has sent us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
How we keep and share information
We keep information only as long as we need it for parish purposes, and we limit access to clergy, staff and trusted volunteers who need it. We share information only with the service providers named above, with the Diocese of Harrisburg when required for parish records, or when the law requires it. You may ask us to see, correct or delete information you've given us.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
Terms of use
- Content. Text, photographs and recordings on this site belong to St. Lawrence Church or are used with permission. You're welcome to share links and to print pages for personal, parish or non-commercial use. Please ask before reusing photographs or larger portions elsewhere.
- Accuracy. We try to keep Mass times, events and other details current, but schedules change. The bulletin and announcements at Mass have the final word.
- Other sites. We aren't responsible for the content or practices of websites we link to.
- Photographs. Parish events are sometimes photographed. If you'd like a photo of yourself or your child removed, please contact us.
- Use of the site. Please don't misuse the site, its forms or its email addresses (for example, by sending spam).
- Law. These terms are governed by the laws of Pennsylvania.
